On the axial road of the city of Beijing, the Di’anmen Gate faces the Forbidden City. You can barely find some storied buildings apart from Siheyuan (the square courtyard) which are all built of grey bricks. The Drum Tower is at its north with many popular shops selling musical instruments and gaming gadget. The west entrance of Yandai Xie Street is on Di’anmen Road as well and you can find the famous Houhai bar area by walking down the road. Houhai, literally “back sea,” is a place of old and new, boasting not only well-preserved Hutong but chic bars. The area is always packed by tourist everywhere. Apart from tourists, people come here to get drunk and be comforted.
