Formation and Categories of Shoushan Stone
Chinese legend says that after finishing repairing heaven, the goddess Nuwa hid the unused magical material under Shoushan mountain, hence beautiful stones can be found there. Scientifically speaking, Shoushan stone is an amalgate and belongs to the pinite family. In the Mesozoic era (251 to 65.5 million years ago), there were many volcanic eruptions in the area of Fujian Province, leaving lots of volcanic rock, and Shoushan stone was formed in this way.
