Introduction:
Shaolin Gongfu is a form of martial arts rooted in Zen Buddhism. It utilizes meditation in the study of martial arts and the practice of martial arts as a form of meditation, ultimately integrating the two to achieve physical mastery and spiritual enlightenment. Shaolin Gongfu has a history reaching back over 1500 years. Among its unique fighting styles is Xiangxingquan, a form that embodies the spirit and movements of various birds and animals. Through the ages, Shaolin Gongfu Masters developed and passed down eighteen styles of meditative martial arts, including various types of hand to hand fighting as well as the use of long and short staffs and other weapons.
The performers of The Legend of Shaolin are all highly accomplished members of the Shaolin Monastery Martial Arts Training Center of Songshan Mountain, Henan Province, committed to carrying on China's venerable martial arts tradition. This production incorporates their fighting skills with elements of modern performing arts, creating an authentic and visually stunning display of traditional Shaolin martial arts.
