Born in 1954 in Kashgar, a city at the western end of China's Silk Road, Jiang has explored a unique grammar of traditional painting. Ever since she took up the brushes, she has drawn inspiration from the centuries' old legacy of ancient civilizations, especially from mural paintings and grotto figurines.
