Bronze art constitutes one of the most brilliant parts of the splendid Chinese civilization with a time-honored history of 5000 years. Chinese bronze art first appeared during the Xia Dynasty (approximately 2100 B.C. to 1600B.C), but blossomed during the Zhou Dynasty (1112 B.C. to 256 A.D.). It continued to flourish until the Han Dynasty (206B.C. to 220 A.D.). In the long course of history, skillful craftsmen and artists of the past dynasties created numerous masterpieces of bronze featuring different forms and colorfully diversified styles and decorations. To date, more than ten thousands such pieces have survived the test of time and can still be appreciated today.
