The Zhengzi Opera is a rare, ancient kind of multi-aria opera. It was formed on the basis of the South Opera, one of the earliest operas in China that dates back to thesouthern Song Dynasty(1127-1279), which was introduced to southern Guangdong Province, in the earlyMing Dynasty(1368-1644). It took root in Lufeng City, and later spread to other places in Southeast Asia.
