The 2008 Shanghai International Children's Theater Festival started on July 4 and will continue until August 3. The performances will include art troupes from 11 countries.
Among the plays are Martha by Catherine Wheels Theater Company from the United Kingdom, Sindbad by the Bialystok Puppet Theater in Poland, Explosion Therapy by Terrapin Puppet Theater in Australia and The Sky Used to be Low by Shiny Shoes Theater from Taiwan. There are also puppet shows and musicals from Serbia and Sweden. Chinese subtitles will be provided for all foreign plays.
The Children's Art Theater of the China Welfare Institute will stage The Super Dalmatian while the Shanghai Puppet Troupe will put on Peony Fairy in cooperation with the Puppet Troupe of Henan Province Singing & Dancing Theater.
