Unfortunately, in later centuries, China became weak and was invaded by western countries. Its bright image in the west faded away. Today, the impression of ill and short Chinese people and China’s poor living conditions live in some people minds. On the contrary, other people are afraid that the rapid growth of China is a threat to them. Now people have a chance to the real China.
China also has a long history of sports. While the ancient Greeks were hosting Olympics, the ancient Chinese amused themselves with archery, equestrian, shooting, running and jumping. When the western world was caught up with throwing javelins and running, archery was popular among the Chinese. The average person’s involvement became part of Chinese sports culture which aimed to cultivate the nation’s spirit.
The Beijing Olympics enable us to employ our rich cultural resources to enhance the possibilities for the average person to play sports.
