British TNT Theatre stages William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew this weekend with modern music adding a new dimension to famous comedy. In English with Chinese subtitles.

The Peony Pavilion, the classic Kunqu Opera, is onstage at the Imperial Granary, a perfect venue. The Imperial Granary was rebuilt in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) 600 years ago, exactly the time the Kunqu Opera was written. To further emphasize the origins of the Granary and the opera, the entire show will take place without the benefit of electricity.

CONCERTS

In its 12 years, the Xinjiang Philharmonic Orchestra has earned a reputation for producing an honest, bold and unconstrained musical style, with a repertoire of varied times, regions and nationalities. Tonight's concert mainly features folk music from the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
