EXHIBITION

INSTANT AND ETERNITY”

CHINESE CULTURE THROUGH LENS OF MALTESE PHOTOGRAPHERS

Time: 15 December — 15 January, 2009

Venue: Art Gallery, China Cultural Centre

The year 2008 marks the 5th Anniversary of the Founding of China Cultural Centre in Malta. With the attention and support from all walks of life, the Centre is growing into a bridge of friendship between the two countries and their peoples. During the past five years, there appeared numerously fabulous and unforgettable moments which the photographic exhibition is about to review and memorize.

The photographic works exhibited here all come from the most talented Maltese photographers. They use their outstanding skills and earnest passion for Chinese culture to record the growth of the Centre as well as the cultural bonds between our two countries over the past five years. Those classic pictures on the inauguration of the Centre, the Terracotta Soldiers Exhibition and the two editions of Valletta Chinese Spring Festival will revisit the very moments again.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 15 December, 2008. Entrance is free, and visitors are warmly welcome.

CHINESE TRADITIOANL CRAFTS COURSE

LEARN TO MAKE CHINESE KNOT

Time: 18:00-19:00, 4 Dec. (Thur), 9 Dec. (Tues) & 15 Dec. (Mon)

Venue: Multi-functional Hall, China Cultural Centre

Knot craft is one of China’s ancient folk arts. Chinese knots are beautifully plaited ornaments of various kinds of auspicious patterns.

This handicraft was known as far back as 3000 years ago and the tradition remains popular throughout the Chinese history. Nowadays, knots are widely used as ornaments for clothing and decorations at homes. They are even used in modern visual designs. For instance, the logo for Beijing’s bid to host the 2008 Olympics was based on a traditional knot craft design.

Do you ever want to surprise your family and friends by giving them special presents made by yourself? The hands-on workshop offers you a unique opportunity to DIY this special kind of Chinese ornaments. No tuition will be charged and only material fees apply. Kindly contact us at maltaccc@gmail.com or tel 21225055 to join in. 
