It belongs to thePinaceaeFamily, with the Latin name ofAbies beshanzuensis.
The evergreen arbor can attain the height up to 17 meters, with a chest diameter of 80 centimeters. It has verticillate branches. The linear leaves are arranged in spiral rows. Each leaf has a nick on top, with a bright green facade. There are two white stomatic bands on the back of the leaf. Saplings can bear a serious lack of sunshine. It bears fruits every 2-5 years and blossoms in May. The cones ripen in November.
Baishanzu Fir is the first discovered plant of the fir genus in subtropical regions in eastern Chinain recent years, which is of great significance to the study of plantage and climatic variation.
