It's native to Asian tropic mountainous regions with high temperature, abundant rainfall and distinct difference between dry and wet seasons. The pH value of the latosol there is 4.5 to 5.5. It blossoms from March to April, and fructifies from June to August.
In ChinaErchi Vine is only found on the backside of Nabangba Mountain 300 to 650 meters above sea level, in Yingjiang County of Yunnan Province. It's also found in Burma, India and Singapore.
