The Academy of Traditional Chinese Paintings (ATCP), founded in1981, is a research institution under the Ministry of Culture.

Duties and tasks: To conduct comprehensive and systematic research in the art of Chinese paintings and specialized research on Chinese painters with great achievements and to build up a data base of information and files on painters; to conduct research and create Chinese paintings and hold academic meetings and exhibitions; to train creative and research personnel in Chinese painting; to contact and unite domestic and foreign painters with representative achievements; and to conduct friendly activities among painters and artistic exchanges with foreign countries.
Establishment: ATCP includes an Exhibition Hall, Business Department and General Office.
