The Chinese Ice Hockey Association, founded in 1957, is a national non-governmental organization. It was a branch of China Winter Sports Association and became an independent organization in 1981. Its headquarters is in Beijing. The Chinese Ice Hockey Association is a member of the All-China Sports Federation. In 1957, China became a formal member of the International Ice Hockey Federation.
Major tasks of the Association are:
* to increase public opportunities and participation in ice hockey;
* to promote China's success on ice hockey;
* to organize and host international games;
* to promote international exchanges;
* to organize national competitions and training programs;
* to formulate rules on management and holding competitions;
* to set up evaluation rules on athletes, coaches, and judges;
* to select and recommend players and coaches for the Chinese national ice hockey team;
* to organize the training of the national team and its participation in the international games;
* to assist and organize the research and development programs;
The Chinese Ice Hockey Association has five committees, namely the National Committee, the Standing Committee, the Coaches Committee, the Judges Committee and the Research Committee.
