The Chinese Trampoline and Acrobatic Gymnastics Association was originally a branch of the Chinese Gymnastics Association and became an independent organization in 1979. As a national non-governmental organization, it is a member of the All-China Sports Federation.
Tasks of the association are:
* to study and work out development plan and policies for acrobatic gymnastics;
* to establish elite acrobatic teams and train youth athletes;
* to select and recommend athletes and coaches for the Chinese national team;
* to organize training of coaches, athletes and judges on a national scale;
* to study and work out competition systems and plans, as well as judging rules;
* to organize and supervise national games;
* to organize international games hosted in China;
* to work out technical standards on the evaluation of athletes and judges;
* to conduct research programs;
* to organize outbound visits and assist Chinese teams' participation in international games;
* to promote international exchanges and cooperation.
Under the organization there are National Representatives' Congress of Acrobatic Gymnastics, the National Committee, the Technical Committee, the Judges Committee, the Research Committee and the Social Activities Committee.
