The Chinese Equestrian Association, a national non-government, nonprofit organization, was founded in 1979. It is based in Beijing. It is a member of the All-China Sports Federation. In 1982, the International Equestrian Federation accepted the Chinese association as a formal member.
Major tasks of the Association are:
* to lay out the development plan, strategy and policy of the equestrian sport;
* to organize all kinds of competitions;
* to formulate rules on the management of racehorses;
* to define the categories of racehorses and set up evaluation standards on the horses;
* to organize training programs for athletes, coaches and judges;
* to select athletes to participate in international and national games;
* to organize international games in China;
* to supervise export of racehorses.
There are six committees under the Chinese Equestrian Association, namely the National Committee, the Executive Committee, the Technical Committee, the Coaches Committee, the Horse Racing Management Committee, the China Sports Horse Management Committee and the China Horse Sports Promotion Committee.
