The Chinese Rowing Association, founded in May 1981, is a national non-governmental organization based in Beijing. It is a member of the All-China Sports Federation. In 1973, China became a formal member of the International Rowing Federation.
Tasks of the Association are:
* to promote progress of rowing sport in China;
* to promote the friendship between Chinese people and peoples all over the world;
* to conduct seminars and competitions within China;
* to work out the development plan, administrative rules, and training and competition systems;
* to approve the eligibility of amateur athletes in taking part in competitions;
* to conduct research programs.
There are the Standing Committee, the Secretariat, the Technical Committee, the Competition Committee, the Equipment and Facility Committee, the Research Committee and the Publicity and Liaison Committee under the Association.
