-- Qiang Medicine and Iatrology
Most Qiang people live in mountain areas. With a varied landform, high elevation and changeful climate, it is a natural production base of many precious and rare medicinal herbs, such as Chinese caterpillar fungus, bulb of fritillary, gastrodia elata and angelica; animal medicines such as bear galls, pilose antler and musk; minerals such as crystal, mudesa stone, gypsum and realgar. For their good curative effect, various categories and large output, these medicines sell well both at home and abroad.
There are altogether 102 kinds of Qiang medicine (herbs, animals and minerals), 85 kinds of herbs, 15 kinds of animal medicine and two kinds of minerals. These medicines feature freshness, strong taste and quick effect.
Treatments and medical tools are very simple, including ox-horn jar, pricking, acupuncture, moxibustion, massage, scrapping and cupping.
